Project 52, week 3

Well, this week I didn’t have a chance to really get out and take pictures, but I still had to choose from a few possibilities for this week’s photo. First of all, last Monday we had a little bit of snow. For us here on the Oregon coast, it was about as much snow as we might get at any one time. Later in the week, however, we had a huge storm blow in. It brought high winds with 90+ MPH gusts and almost 5 inches of rain in one day. Needless to say, there was flooding. I took some pictures of a park near our house — trees were down, there was water in the playground, in the parking lot, the creek had spilled its banks, etc.

In the end, I went with the snow picture from Monday. Tucker, our beagle, loves the snow. In this picture, he’s about to catch small snow ball that my wife had just thrown for him.

Project 52, week 2

Okay, here’s the second entry in my project to take/publish one photo per week this year. Last Sunday it was an amazing beautiful day here on the central Oregon coast. My wife and I took our beagle and went for a walk on the south jetty. The tide was out, the light was golden.

Project 52, week 1

I’ve read about a lot of people doing a picture a day for a year, usually called “Project 365″ or something similar. I would never be able to do this. However, I have decided to do an easier version: One picture a week for a year, “Project 52.” Since 2012 started on a Sunday, I’ve given myself until Saturday evening to make a photograph to post. This week’s was taken one morning earlier in the week. The composition is nothing to jump up & down about, but the colors are nice, I think.

I know it’s early, but yesterday my co-worker gave me my best Christmas gift this year so far. Check it out:

I call him, "Darth Gumball," & he finds your lack of faith disturbing.

If you press on his instrument plate in the front, you’ll hear his distinctive breathing sound and receive a gum ball.

Our Unusually Beautiful Weather Continues …

Many around here are complaining about it being so cold in the mornings — there was quite a bit of frost on the cars, roofs & roads earlier today — but the trade-off is that it’s been absolutely beautiful here, especially for near mid-December. Crab season opens on Dec. 15, so many boats were heading out today and placing their crab pots, then heading back in until Thursday.
