The Tall Ships are Back

Every year or two, the tall ships from the State of Washington come to Yaquina Bay. The Lady Washington is a recreation of an old sailing vessel and the Hawaiian Chieftain is a steel-hulled vessel that is built to look like an old sailing ship. I took our exchange student for a “tour” of the Hawaiian Chieftain and later I went to the south jetty and waited for the two ships to head out to sea for a battle sail. Below are the best pics. As always, click to embiggen.
